Most families in this region live on less than $0.80 per day, leaving them unable to afford school fees, uniforms, or even basic supplies. For these children, accessing quality education is not just difficult—it’s nearly impossible.

Many children must walk long distances, sometimes up to 20 kilometers, to reach the nearest school. Along the way, they face threats from wildlife and endure the physical toll of the journey. Once they arrive, they are met with overcrowded classrooms, where a single teacher may be responsible for as many as 72 students. This makes it nearly impossible for children to receive the individual attention and support they need to thrive.

For girls, the challenges are even greater. Cultural norms often prioritize domestic responsibilities over education, keeping girls at home to assist with household chores. This has created a significant gender gap, with fewer girls able to access and complete their education.

Breaking Barriers Through the Sponsor a Classroom Initiative

At Moshi Kids Centre, we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and achieve their dreams. That’s why we’ve launched the Sponsor a Classroom initiative, a transformative project aimed at addressing the root causes of educational inequality in the region.

This initiative focuses on building modern, well-equipped classrooms that provide a safe, supportive, and inspiring environment for children to learn. The project goes beyond infrastructure, offering holistic support that removes financial and logistical barriers to education.

Key components of the initiative include:

1. Building State-of-the-Art Facilities:
   The new classroom will be equipped with essential learning materials and designed to create an environment conducive to both academic and social development. The estimated costs for the project include $11,946 for the ground floor, $15,973 for the first floor, and $294 for the architect’s sketch and Bill of Quantities.
2. Providing Holistic Support:
   Sponsorship covers enrollment fees, school supplies, uniforms, and healthcare services, ensuring that children have everything they need to succeed.
3. Empowering Girls:
   By actively encouraging the enrollment of girls, we aim to bridge the gender gap and empower the next generation of women leaders in the community.
4. Reducing Student-Teacher Ratios:
   The project also focuses on recruiting and supporting more teachers, ensuring that students receive personalized attention and guidance.
5. Promoting Health and Nutrition:
   Access to healthcare services and nutritional support ensures that children are healthy and ready to learn.
